Harlem my home for many years near here at 125th. St. And St. Nicholas ave. where the legendary Apollo Theater's Marquis gleams only a block away on the American street of dreams. A place where diversity, equity and fairness rule the day; "you get yours; I get mine" let's live and let live is the only way to play. Harlem, where folk arrive with hope and pieces of a dream all colors, hues, creeds, and stripes; where streets brim with storied history, Langston, Baldwin, Ellington, Ella, Adam, Malcolm; all legends, our kings and queens. They may rezone, some try to own it, gentrify it and try to clone it. Like the fabled towers of Babel new buildings stretch toward heaven, while down here on the ground the poor toil as lives’ bread is leavened. I did not always live in Harlem, but Harlem has always lived in me a magical place where all are welcomed whom yearn to breathe. D-Day 3.27.23 ... See MoreSee Less

Happy Fantastic 70th Birthday to Chaka Khan. I once interviewed her at a record store on 86th St. and Lexington when I was an entertainment reporter for The McCreary Report on Fox 5.
We both performed at the T.D. Jakes Ministries 30th Anniversary Gala. Then, again at #carnegiehall for Chew Entertainment. She sang and I announced. ... See MoreSee Less

Thank you so much!!
We're celebrating Women's History Month with media mogul Cathy Hughes. Last year, UNCF honored her with the 2022 President's Award.
Ms. Hughes is certainly a part of Women's History and Black History, too. I've worked with the UNCF since 1986 co-hosting the "Lou Rawls Parade of Stars Telethons" in NY and I've been honored and privileged to be the announcer for the annual UNCF A Mind is... Galas. At last year's Gala, I voiced the special presentation for Cathy Hughes.
