In 2021, the HarlemAmerica Digital Network was home to three podcasts. We’re expanding our lineup even more as we move through 2022. Let’s take a look back on some of the coolest things that happened in the last year with the HarlemAmerica 2021 podcast highlights.

What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica with G. Keith Alexander

Our flagship podcast, “What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica with G. Keith Alexander” now has 41 episodes packed with some of the biggest names in Black entertainment and business. We started 2021 off in a huge way, with guests like Gloria Gaynor, Keith David, Phylicia Rashad, and Dionne Warwick – all of whom have had fascinating careers in the entertainment industry, just like the podcast’s host, G. Keith Alexander.

G. Keith has had his own amazing career in film, television, and radio, and he loves talking to people who come from similar backgrounds and hustled just as hard to fulfill their dreams.

The conversations flow from activism to acting to August Wilson and back again. You can listen to all the “What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica” episodes right here on demand. We thought we’d share some of our favorite highlights from season 2’s episodes here.

On episode 1 of Season 2, G. Keith sat down with Neema Barnette. Originally from Harlem, Neema is a film director, and the first African American woman to direct a prime-time sitcom. You definitely know her work, which includes directing Luke Cage, Blind Spot, The Good Cop, and the 4th and 5th seasons of Bosch. She talks about her career, the TV show favorites she and G. Keith share, and more.

Listen to all the struggles and triumphs Neema faced, her love for Harlem, and how she is paving the way for Black women entertainers with her work and her heart here.

On episode 2, Ernie Hudson stopped by, and what a treat it is to listen to two entertainment legends! G. Keith talks about how Ernie has had him as a fan since his work in Congo, and they take the Way Back Machine all the way back to Ernie’s self-proclaimed “charmed childhood”, from his humble beginnings to his Hollywood success in everything from Netflix’s Grace and Frankie to the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife film.

He exudes humility and gratitude and takes us through his journey as a single father of two sons to an entertainment giant.

Episode 3 is all about bringing together two NYC DJs!

Ralph McDaniel, the genius behind the hit show Music Video Box (which was the #2 show in its time slot behind Oprah), chats with G. Keith about his childhood in Queens, his love of programming music, and how he came up with the term “shoutout” and what he thinks about his legendary work and what it did for the music industry.

Full Time CEO Podcast

Will Roundtree, one of our Season 1 “What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica” guests, has his own podcast on the HarlemAmerica Digital Network called the “Full Time CEO Podcast: The Sh*t They Don’t Tell You.” Will strives to empower our community with tips, tricks, and stories collected through his journey from homeless to millionaire. Here are some of the 2021 podcast highlights from the Credit King himself.

In his very first episode, Will talks with his very first business mentorJohn Malott about how to focus on getting results. Through their close personal and professional relationship, you get to learn the ins and outs of how John helped Will simplify the things we humans tend to complicate, and how John’s advice still resonates with people today.

Will recounts one of the first words of wisdom he “stole” from John: “It’s OK to be a copycat, as long as you copy the right cat.”

This and every episode of “Full Time CEO” is a master class in hard work and achieving the results you want in business while being aware of the darkness that can creep through the cracks of success if you’re not careful.

The Foxworth Theory

Eugenia Foxworth uses her podcast, “The Foxworth Theory” to interview the pioneers within the art, dance, fashion, and music industries. Her purpose is to inspire, motivate, and encourage our youth to pursue their aspirations.

In her first episode, Eugenia sits down with legendary actor Antonio Fargas, best known for his roles in 1970s blaxploitation and comedy movies, including his portrayal as Huggy Bear in the original Starsky & Hutch TV series.

She talks with Antonio about the legacy of performers that each generation of black entertainers gets to look to for inspiration, what it means for him to have been working in the industry for 61 years, and his gratitude at seeing the progress black actors have made in their own journeys to success and stardom.

Full of deep topics and amazing guests, you won’t want to miss “The Foxworth Theory” on the Harlem America Digital Network!
