BIOGRAPHY

Kamilah Forbes is the Executive Producer of the Apollo in addition to her work as an esteemed award-winning director and producer for theater and television. Ms. Forbes is a powerful leader, widely known for her ability and commitment to continue to highlight the ideas, complexities, and work of a1tists in the hip-hop community and beyond. She has received awards for both directing and producing, including the 2019 NBTF Larry Leon Hamlin Producer Award and an NMCP Image Award.

Ms. Forbes’ directing credits include Beti.ueen the World and Me; By the Way, Meet; Vera Stark; Blood Quilt and Sunset Baby. This Howard University alum has also collaborated on The Wiz Live, A Raisin in the Sun, 1Wountaintop, and Stick Fly on Broadway. She has produced several works for television, most notably the seventh season of the Tony Award and Peabody Award-winning series Russell Sirnmons presents Def Poetry on HBO.

Ms. Forbes’ most recent directorial work, Between the World and Me, aired as a special event on HBO and HBO Max in November 2020 to critical acclaim. Outside of her work at the Apollo, Ms. Forbes is slated to direct the Broadway premiere of Soul Train, alongside Questlove, Dominique Morrisseau, and Camille A. Brown.

Keith Alexander interviewed nearly 200 of today’s R&B and Hip-Hop artists and introduced his audiences to their hot debut releases, giving many their first exposure on TV. It is no question that G. Keith knows talent. It is also no wonder because, G. Keith is, himself, a tremendous talent. In radio, television, and in advertising doing voice overs, he has built an impressive career as a media broadcaster and communicator, having influenced millions of people with the sound of his voice. And what a voice! It is smooth, distinctive and commanding -- like his personal style. Born and raised in Chicago, G. Keith as a young boy had dreams of becoming a disc jockey and eventually became music director and afternoon jock for his native city's WGCI. His baritone delivery has also resounded over the airwaves of Disco 92 WKTU, 98.7 KISS-FM, former jazz station WRVR, Inner City Broadcasting's WBLS in the Big Apple, Clear Channel’s Jammin’ 105 and Infinity’s New MIX 102.7. And while New York City has remained his home throughout his professional career, his appeal has been national.
