A Very Special Welcome to HarlemAmerica

Black Music Month Headline 2

Black Music Month takes place in June and is a time to celebrate the many Black artists, composers, and musicians who have made important contributions to music throughout the years. Black music—jazz, blues, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and more—has a long and storied history, and this month celebrates that tradition. The music business owes a great debt of gratitude to the Black musicians that brought soul to Motown and hip-hop with their innovative beats and melodies.

During Black Music Month, we may commemorate the lives and work of legendary black musicians whose music has touched countless lives. Black artists add a lot to the musical scene, and now is the moment to celebrate their ingenuity, resilience, and invention. This month, we will be showcasing 4 unique artists whose talent and individual bodies of work are a shining example of what we as a people have contributed to the musical soundtrack of the world. We will highlight one artist each week, with an article, images, videos and a playlist for your education and enjoyment.

On June 5th, we feature Phyllis Hyman, who would have been turning 74 this month but for her tragic death in 1995 at the age of 45. She was a legendary performer in R&B, jazz, and soul for about three decades, during which time she became famous for her jazz-influenced style and dramatic stage presence. She may have had a tough life, but the impact her music has had on musicians throughout the years. ensures that her legacy will go on.

On June 12, we will feature amazing Will Downing. Downing’s career demonstrates his dedication to music, perseverance, and talent, making him an inspiration to young artists and a groundbreaking figure in modern R&B and jazz.

Then on June 19, chanteuse, Chante Moore will be in the HarlemAmerica spotlight. The legendary R&B and jazz singer Chanté Moore has left an everlasting impression on the music industry with her rich, expressive voice and adaptable style.

Finally on June 26, we will introduce to some and re-introduce to others, the incomparable Luke James. American musician, actor, and songwriter Luke James Boyd is well-known for his work across multiple platforms. The rise to fame of James, who was born on June 13, 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is an inspiring story of skill, determination, and adaptability.

We will also be highlighting the many wonderful artists who our very own G. Keith Alexander has interviewed on HarlemAmerica’s flagship show, What’s Hot! HarlemAmerica.

As we celebrate Black Music Month, we invite you to lose yourself in the rhythms, melodies, and narratives that make up Black music right here on HarlemAmerica.

ARE YOU A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER?

Imagine, if you could have a small business podcast that connects with the right persons to convert into customers, clients, donors or fans.

Having a small business Talk Show that connects with the right audience can be a powerful tool for reaching potential customers, clients, donors, or fans. A well-crafted podcast provides an opportunity to showcase your expertise, build trust with your target audience, and establish a strong personal connection with them. This in turn can lead to increased conversions, whether that’s through sales, donations, or new fans.

To make the most of your Talk Show, it’s important to focus on providing valuable content that resonates with your target audience. This could mean discussing industry-specific topics, offering advice and tips, or simply sharing your own experiences as a business owner. By providing valuable insights and engaging with your audience through your podcast, you can create a loyal following and increase your chances of converting listeners into customers or clients.

In addition to the content itself, there are also several key steps you can take to increase the visibility of your Talk Show and reach more potential customers. This includes optimizing your Talk Show for search engines, leveraging social media to promote your episodes, and collaborating with other small business owners to reach a wider audience.

Ultimately, the key to success with a small business Talk Show is to focus on building a strong connection with your target audience and providing valuable content that resonates with them. With the right approach, your Talk Show can help you establish more fame, fortune, and followers and take your small business to the next level.

Imagine, if your small business podcast could be monetized; grow your email list and Facebook group; and grow your revenue.

If your small business Talk Show had the power to monetize, grow your email list, and Facebook group, you could potentially see an increase in revenue. A strong and engaged audience can be a valuable asset for a business, providing a steady stream of income through advertisements, sponsorships, and merchandise sales. By creating content that resonates with your target audience, you can build a loyal community of followers who are eager to support you and your business. In addition, by growing your email list and Facebook group, you can stay connected with your audience and keep them up to date on the latest developments with your business. With a well-executed Talk Show, you have the potential to reach a wider audience and generate more revenue for your small business.

Imagine, if your small business podcast could have the support of a professional media team to train you and handle the production.

This would provide you with the resources and expertise to create a high-quality Talk Show that attracts and engages your target audience. By having a professional team handle the production, you can focus on the content and messaging, which is key to building a strong connection with your audience and establishing your brand as an authority in your industry.

Having the HarlemAmerica Digital Network media team on your side can also help you reach a wider audience and gain more visibility, as we can use our experience and connections to promote your Talk Show’s audio on two radio networks, HarlemAmerica and VoiceAmerica. Your Talk Show will be distributed across Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Comcast Xfinity TV platforms and all major podcast platforms. Additionally, by having a media team that is dedicated to your success, you can have peace of mind knowing that your Talk Show is in good hands, and you can focus on running your business.

May the 4th be with you!
WBLS is celebrating its 50th Year Anniversary at this year's HARLEM WEEK Inc., August 11th, 17th and 18th. I was fortunate to be amongst the original founding DJs to benefit from the FRANKIE CROCKER School of Radio Broadcasting W-B-L-S. Over many years, I've worked and served three on-air tours on this world famous radio station launched in Harlem, America.
Listen and Enjoy: player.harlemamerica.com/2EjMwkjM

The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce also celebrates its 50th Year Anniversary of Harlem Week, which promises to be the best ever this year.

On this legacy aircheck, I go from WBLS to KISS without skipping a beat.
If you remember those days of BIG fun and hot music, please leave a comment. And, if you are too young to remember or if you have asked yourself, "What's G Keith Alexander's claim to fame?" You might find this to be revealing and fun?
